The big news is that Astraware is shortly to be acquired by Handmark, once the inevitable paperwork has finally gone through

The more interesting news is how some of the reporting draws attention to one of my... features...

More Howard Tomlinsons

So far I've found a total of 4 other Howard Tomlinsons!
Using some of the US census data, I worked out the relative likelihood of both "Howard" and "Tomlinson" and came up with an expectation of there being around 4 in the UK and 20 in the US. (Just based on population sizes).

Some day I really must start a list on here :D

Trebuchet Inspiration!

Over the Easter holiday - while our children were off school, Kirk noticed that Warwick Castle was advertising a number of events over the holidays, including firing of a large trebuchet. For those that don't know, a trebuchet is a siege engine built for throwing rocks at castle walls. Here is the Warwick trebuchet wound up and ready to fire!

Spam blast appearing to come from howardtomlinson.com

Within the past 24 hours, it seems that one of the spammers has been connecting to some open mail servers (not mine!) and sending tons of spam emails out, with the headers to make it look like it was sent from an address "@howardtomlinson.com".

I found out because of the hundreds of "bounce" messages that have arrived in my various inboxes, and if there are hundreds of bounces that probably ...[more]

A brave man

Yesterday, I heard reports of the Zimbabwean opposition party MDC's leader, Morgan Tsvangirai. He had been beaten, according to reports, after a rally in opposition of the ruling regime in Zimbabwe. I heard reports that the beatings of some of his party had occurred during a prayer meeting, now that gatherings of any kind are being restricted.

Being a victim - getting beaten up - does not make you brave.

Two Cool Video-Audio Links

Two things that really caught me as cool:

First - a guy who can't play drums or piano, making a really good sequence out of tiny video fragments of him (otherwise) abusing the instruments: See him on YouTube. . Impressive!

I had some fun trying out a great photoshop tutorial - Pop Art Inspired by Lichtenstein, with a pic from earlier this summer of Maria playing the piano.

Once you go Mac?

Yesterday, the inevitable happened.

It started with buying an iPod while in Seattle earlier in the year. I had been deliberately looking not just for the qualities of the device, but the whole experience - browsing in the store, getting assistance and purchasing, the packaging, installation, ease of use... and I'll admit I was quite surprised just how good the whole experience was!
