The big news is that Astraware is shortly to be acquired by Handmark, once the inevitable paperwork has finally gone through
The more interesting news is how some of the reporting draws attention to one of my... features...
Pocket Info News - you don't have to read Dutch to get the point! It is nice to be known for something, even if it isn't quite what I'd hope for :D
Some day I really must start a list on here :D
I'm a Howard Tomlinsom in the UK so there's one for the count. H

- by: Howard TomlinsonOver the Easter holiday - while our children were off school, Kirk noticed that Warwick Castle was advertising a number of events over the holidays, including firing of a large trebuchet. For those that don't know, a trebuchet is a siege engine built for throwing rocks at castle walls. Here is the Warwick trebuchet wound up and ready to fire!
Howard, are you related to the Paul A. Tomlinson who lived in Michigan & passed away in the early '70's? He was married to my grandma, Goldie Tomlinson, & Goldie's daughter (my Mom)was Arlene. Paul had a son named Howard, & so he was Arlene's step-brother. We lost track of Howard after Paul (Pat as we called him)passed away. Arlene just passed on August 9th, & it started us thinking about our extended family & wanting to know more about them. If this is you, please let us know.
- by: Sandra McCuneYesterday, I heard reports of the Zimbabwean opposition party MDC's leader, Morgan Tsvangirai. He had been beaten, according to reports, after a rally in opposition of the ruling regime in Zimbabwe. I heard reports that the beatings of some of his party had occurred during a prayer meeting, now that gatherings of any kind are being restricted.
Being a victim - getting beaten up - does not make you brave. ...[more]
Two things that really caught me as cool:
First - a guy who can't play drums or piano, making a really good sequence out of tiny video fragments of him (otherwise) abusing the instruments: See him on YouTube. . Impressive!
Next, a demo a very cool interactive table, where you place sound generating and modifying ...[more]
I had some fun trying out a great photoshop tutorial - Pop Art Inspired by Lichtenstein, with a pic from earlier this summer of Maria playing the piano.

Well, much of the weekend was spent playing with the Mac... and the question is, what's the verdict after the honeymoon?
...[more]hey howard... what are the apps that made you wait? knowing that your Mac is Intel-based, you might want to check if these apps are older-PPC based. if they are indeed older-PPC based apps, you might want to check and see if there's an updated "Universal" version... well, i'm still using my good 'ol iBook G4 1GHz... it's slower than yours for sure! :P
- by: XCoolYesterday, the inevitable happened.
It started with buying an iPod while in Seattle earlier in the year. I had been deliberately looking not just for the qualities of the device, but the whole experience - browsing in the store, getting assistance and purchasing, the packaging, installation, ease of use... and I'll admit I was quite surprised just how good the whole experience was!
...[more]hey howard!!! congrats on the new purchase! i hope you enjoy using it as much as i enjoyed using mine... ;)
- by: XCoolIt has been a while since I've updated - quite a lot of little things have happened, but nothing quite sufficient to move me to write on its own. But, here goes...
...[more]Hey, Howard... I was just in the UK for 9 days on a trip with my sister, and the heat wave was really noticable. Only one B&B we stayed had air conditioning, and the hostel in London we hit at the end of the trip didn't even have fans that we could use. Unfortunately, we didn't get near the Astraware HQ or I would have stopped in for lunch or tea :) Cheers!
- by: Ben CombeeSomething about the hot (for the UK!) weather is making us all a bit crazier than normal. Somehow it seemed appropriate to plug in the electric guitar, crank the volume up, and the overdrive beyond what might be considered musically sane, and let rip for an hour of overdriven electric noise!
My fingers, not used to this level of abuse from sharp steel wires, are a bit more ...[more]
While it was working fine, I'd read about upgrading the hard drive in there, but didn't want to for risk of destroying it all. Well, now was the perfect opportunity. ...[more]
Hi Howard Does the drive still work problem free? I have purchased the 7L250R0 but have been sent the 6L250R0 in error - is it worth me seding back or not. Thanks
- by: Andrew WellsYes, the drive is still working fine - loads of space!
- by: HowardWent to visit a (relatively) local garage to look at a car for Kirk today. The car we saw (a Ford Escort Finesse) was quite adequate, reasonable condition and price, and looks like it'll last Kirk nicely for a couple of years.
Problem is... just inside the showroom they put this, just to tempt me...
...[more]Don't even hesitate... The S-Type has tempted me since it exists... I know that Jaguar purists don't consider it a Jaguar but they are wrong :) On top of that, it's green racing with beige leather seats, like mine (which is a nice car but not a Jag), which is the best combination IMO. Go for it :) What was the price btw ?
- by: Michael£8995, in fact. And I'm still tempted...

......so what now for Astraware - is dressing to work like a pirate day included in the contract?
